Buried: 17 Nov 1931 Left Liverpool, England the 24 Jun 1868 and arrived in New York 6 Aug 1868 on the Ship Constitution. He traveled with his two sisters, Louisa and Charlotte. The ship reached New York on August 6, and the emigants left the next day on the Hudson River Railroad for the West. They traveled on trains (including cattle cars on some stretches of track) through Albany, New York, crossing into Canada and past Niagara Falls, Detroit, Chicago, and arriving in Omaha, Nebraska, on August 13. They reached Benton, Wyoming on August 16 and found Gillespie's teamsters and wagons waiting for them. John Gillespie Company Departure: 23-24 August 1868 Arrival in Salt Lake City: 15 September 1868. He returned to England later with his parents to care for his sister, Jane, that remained there. He left Liverpool, England, the second time on the Ship Wyoming 3 Sep 1881, arrived in New York 13 Sep 1881 with his wife and three oldest children. He arrived in Salt Lake City 21 Sep 1881 by railroad. They were in Smithfield, Cache County for a couple of years and then settled in Utah County on the Provo Bench. A son Valentine Hill was born 14 Feb 1878 in Grantham, Lincolnshire, England and died the same day. A daugther Edith Mary Hill is buried here too.
