Obituary The Oakland Independent May 25, 1995 Funeral services for Nevin Uehling were held in Omaha recently. He was 83 years of age. The Rev. Bill Martin gave the sermon and Orville Von Seggern was vocalist. Pallbearers were his grandchildren, Morris Uehling. Jr., Martin Uehling, John Bantner, Jon Sullivan, Steven LeClair and Brad LeClair. He was buried in the family plot at Uehling. Nevin Uehling was born in Uehling Mar. 14, 1912, the son of Magdalene and Fred Uehling and grandson of Theodore Uehling, founder of the town of Uehling. He graduated from Uehling High School in 1929, then assisted his father who was in the Uehling Hardware business. When his father retired he was manager of Willhoft Hardware for four years. During World War II he worked at the Martin Bomber plant and when the war ended he joined Union Pacific Railroad as an electrician. He retired in 1975. He was a member of the Junior and Senior Clubs of the Union Pacific and belonged to Electrical Union IBEW #618. He was a member of the Uehling Congregational Church UCC. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Mary Bolin Uehling of Omaha; three daughters, Sandra Bentner, Carol Sullivan, and Mary LeClair; two sons-in-law, Mekel LeClair and Terry Sullivan; daughter-in-law, Jane Uehling; 13 great-grandchildren; 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Morris Uehling and Marlene Kay.
