OBITUARY - from Airsman-Hires Funeral Home. Robert Alden Trammel, age 77, of Golconda, formerly of Jacksonville, passed away Saturday September 27, 2008. Robert was born June 3, 1931 to George C. and Martha (Maxwell) Trammel in Pope County, Illinois. He married Doris Elaine Florence on June 25, 1953 in Jacksonville she preceded him on December 8, 2007. He is survived by two sons, Robert A. Trammel of Golconda, Ronald C. Trammel and wife Melinda of Golconda; one daughter, Doris Jean "Pee Wee??? Mooney of Golconda; three brothers, Clarence Dean and wife Ann Trammel of Quincy, James Marvin Trammel of Michigan, Phillip Ray and wife Mary Trammel of Golconda; grandchildren, Jeremy Cole Mooney, Jonathan C. and wife Heather Mooney, Sara Trammel, Ashley Trammel, Dylan Trammel, Hannah Trammel; four great grandchildren, Zacharie, Daisy, Kaylee, Abigail; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by five brothers, George Gilbert, John Curtis, Randall Lee, Cecil Eugene, and Horace Manuel Trammel; two sisters Lurene Garris, and June Schnake. He was a member and former Deacon of the Brownfield Baptist Church. He was in the United States ARMY and a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He worked as a carpenter. He loved reading old time western books, playing with grandchildren and telling tall stories, fishing, wood carving, mushroom hunting, and raising farm animals. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday October 3, 2008 at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Roodhouse with burial at Richwoods Cemetery east of Roodhouse. The family will meet friends one hour prior to service Friday at the funeral home. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday October 1, 2008 at Aly Funeral Home in Golconda.
