Nettie Jean Stocking Nettie Jean Stocking, 88 year old Woodward resident, died Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at her home south of Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 9, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of Woodward with the Reverend Tony Barros officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery. Nettie Jean (Satterwhite) Stocking was born March 25, 1927 on the family farm in Beckham County, Oklahoma; she was the daughter of James Gaither and Ruby Blanche (Ellison) Satterwhite. When Nettie was around four years of age, her family moved to Woodward County. She attended the Oakland Country School, and she attended grade school at Vonton. Nettie graduated from Sharon High School in 1945. She attended business college in Oklahoma City for a short period of time before moving back to Woodward. She went to work for C.R. Anthony as a Bookkeeper and later she worked for Adams Brothers Grocery for a number of years. She then worked for the Woodward County Treasurer office and the Woodward County Assessor’s office at the courthouse. She was united in marriage to Eugene J. Stocking on September 3, 1950 at the First Baptist Church of Woodward. The Reverend L.O. McCracken officiated. Attendants were Lucy Fay Satterwhite Koch, sister of Nettie, and Kenneth Phillips, Gene’s uncle. Nettie and Gene have made their home southeast of Woodward on the farm since their wedding. Nettie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Woodward and when she was younger she was a member of the South Persimmon Baptist Church. Nettie enjoyed canning and cooking big dinners for her family. She loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Gene Stocking of the home; one son, Gary Stocking and wife Tina of Woodward; one daughter Judy Boyer of Shawnee; grandchildren, Kevin Boyer and wife Susan of McCloud, Joel Stocking and wife Carol of Woodward, Jason Boyer of Shawnee, Matthew Stocking of Woodward, Jacob Boyer of Del City; great-grandchildren, Shealynn Stocking, Garett Stocking, Grady Stocking, Knox Stocking, Timothy Boyer, Ashley Boyer, Lexi Boyer, Jaxon Boyer; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Geneva McGowan and Lucy Koch, one brother, George Satterwhite, and her son-in-law, Timothy Boyer. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church with the funeral home accepting the contributions on behalf of the family.
