Emil Chmelar, 84, passed away in Dallas, Texas on Thursday, December 11, 2014. Emil was born in Ennis, Texas on February 5, 1930 to Edward and Agnes (Budai) Chmelar. He grew up in Crisp, Texas and graduated from Ennis High School in 1947. On July 7, 1951 he married Ruth Dusek and they made their home in Dallas. He served his country proudly in the United States Army. He worked for Ted Dusek Garage and was the owner of Chmelar Automotive. He was a member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, WFLA, RVOS and SPJST. He enjoyed working on cars, telling stories, Czech dancing and being with family and friends. He is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Ruth Chmelar; son, Jack Chmelar and wife, Vicki of Ennis; daughter, Susan Chmelar of Denver, CO; three grandsons: Eric Chmelar, Brad Chmelar and Sam Chmelar. He is preceded in death by his parents. Memorial services will be held on December 27, 2014 at 2 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis. A private interment will be held at a later date.
