Christeen Adkins 1921-2015 If you are about to cook a peach cobbler and your conscience will not allow you to add the required butter and sugar, from Christeen Adkins' world's bet recipe, STOP, you can't use too much. Christeen entered eternal life on Tuesday May 5, 2015. Her spirit is carried on by her five children, 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, two surviving "Okie" siblings, 44 adoring nieces and nephews and an extended family of relations and friends from every walk of life and corner of this country. Christeen (Mom, Grandma, Aunt Chris) embodied the Oklahoma Standard of tenderness and toughness, sharing and nurturing. We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Christeen during her 93 years 11 months and 3 days. Among them: "For better or worse until death do us part. That doesn't mean to quit when things get tough; stay in church and learn to forgive others; a clean house shows you have respect for yourself and your family; a car wouldn't have 120 miles an hour on the speedometer if I was not meant to go that fast. Fight with your siblings over things and you get nothing. Always have enough supper with something sweet to eat. If you haven't used it in the last year, get it out of the house. Look your best and you will feel your best. Buy your clothes and shoes from local merchants. (She was a fixture in downtown Duncan in retail for 30+ years). Never stop loving. Never stop forgiving. Never stop learning. Keep your Bible by your bed." In her lifetime, Christeen made contact with her huge Graham family, time after time. Those who've taken her lessons to heart will continue to ensure that a cold drink will be left for the overheated lawn man, every baby will be kissed, every sick relative or friend will be called or visited, every guest will have a warm bed and a great meal with the world's best peach cobbler served with love. Above all, Christeen made a call--to everyone, about everything. You may read this and recall one from her that touched your heart or tickled your funny bone. She is survived by her children and grandchildren whose photos filled her immaculate farm home four miles west of the Lawton Duncan Y: Pat Rochette of Duncan (children Wes and Suzie); Carolyn Croom of Elmore City (husband Dan, children Angela, Dianne and April); Betty McNeill of Edmond (husband Larry, child Brad); Gary Adkins of Nashville, TN (wife Karen, children Brittany, Gable, Grayson, Gage, Daisy and Geron); and Robbi Gray of Duncan (husband Jimmy, children Mackenzie and Jamie; siblings Jimmie Nell Alexander of Oklahoma City and Bill Graham of Chickasha, OK; many in-laws, nieces, nephews, friends and family too numerous to list but not forgotten, Christeen is now reunited with her husband, Wilford of 65 years and mother and father, Tot and Della Graham of Doyle and siblings, Mable, Flossie, Earl, Granville, Doris, Bob, Mildred, Betty and TW. A grand reunion in Heaven is now taking place. Christeen now rests in Marlow at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home awaiting a service at the Marlow Fist United Methodist Church on Monday, 10 AM, May 11, 2015. Guests are welcome to join us in a celebration of the Rock of our family.
