Bio

Joan was married to Dale Shank, and later divorced. She was a civil servant for the Department of Defense, retiring in 1988. Joan was a member of the Congregational Church of Winthrop,IA, and the Democratic Party. Joan's hobbies were crocheting, quilting, sewing and genealogy. She also wrote several editorials, which she sent to the local newspapers. Her son Randy Shank and her granddaughter Jennifer Mae Shank preceded her in death. She moved to Washington, IA, to be close to her other son.
