Greenville (Texas) Herald BAnner, Tue, 1 Dec 1964, page 2, Deaths, Services Tuesday For Mrs. Jenks Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday for Mrs. Ralph W. Jenks, 44, widow of a former Hunt County Health Officer who died at 9:45 p.m. Sunday at her home, 3916 Park street. Mrs. Jenks was found dead at her home shortly before 10 p.m. Afterwards Justice of the Peace Homer Wacasey conducted an inquest and returned a verdict that death was due to a gunshot wound self-inflicted. The Rev. B.J. Bell, pastor of Park Street Baptist Church will conduct the services which will be held in the chapel of Coker-Mathews-Peters Funeral Home. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be W.A. Perry, Dr. J.Phil Mockford, James C. Robinson, Steve Wheeless, J.B. Briscoe and Garnett Lee. Friends may call at the funeral home. Mrs. Janks (sic) was secretary in the office of the Extension Service in the courthouse and was referred to Monday by County Agent Steve Wheeless as one of the most efficient secretaries ever to serve in this office. Her husband, who was Hunt County Health Officer for a number of years, died in 1959. Born May 3, 1920, in Winnsboro, Mrs. Jenks was the daughter of John Harris Reeves and Bertie Leona Reeves. She was reared in Winnsboro and the Wolfe City area, came to Greenville in 1942 and had since made her home in this city. She was married to Dr. Jenks in Oklahoma in 1947. Mrs. Jenks was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wolfe City. Always pleasant and friendly she was esteemed by friends throughout a wide area. Her service with the public was marked by courtesy and a willingness to go to the extreme to be helpful. Surviving Mrs. Jenks are two sisters, Mrs. A.M. Nelson of Greenville and Mrs. Jerry Cox of Fort Worth, and two brothers, Buford Reeves of Greenville and Earl Reeves of Fort Worth. She is survived also by a number of nieces and nephews.
