Burson was born July 20, 1893 at Wolbach, Nebraska to Marion and Callie Brisco Douglass and died June 27, 1983 in Norfolk, Nebraska at the age of 89. As a young girl, Ella was active in church and choir. She and her twin sister, Stella, sang duets for weddings, funerals, and public gatherings. She was married September 4, 1923 to Sidney Bennett Brown. To this union six children were born. They were engaged in farming until Sidney's death on September 29, 1949, at which time Ella moved to Ord and cooked at the Ord Hospital for several years. On August 19, 1961, she was united in marriage to George Herman Burson. They farmed west of Ord until moving to town in March of 1968. She was an active member of the Christian Church. Survivors include three sons; Sidney Brown and his wife, Dorothy of Madison, Dwight Brown and his wife, Doris of Burwell, Dale Brown and his wife, Virginia of Park Rapids, MN; two daughters, Mrs. Doris Franssen of Ord and Mrs. Gerald (Elnora)Valasek of Ogallala; ten grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, one son, one granddaughter, one brother and three sisters. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 1, 1983 at 10 am at the Ord Christian Church with Rev. Gerald Peterson officiating. Shirley Karre will be the organist with duets sung by Marlys Schroeder and Marlis Hackel. Pallbearers will be Ron Brown, Ray Brown, Dennis Brown, Gordon Valasek, Lee Eddie Smith, and Marvin Zelazny. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
