James J. Tichota, 68 years, of Fremont, NE died Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point, NE. James was born September 12, 1944 in West Point, NE to Lumir and Mabel (Lennemann) Tichota. He grew up south of Dodge, NE and lived in Howells, NE for 12 years. He moved to Fremont in 1959. James served in the U.S. Army from July 19, 1965 to June 5, 1967. He was stationed at Ft. Lewis Washington and served in the Vietnam War. When he returned to Fremont he worked on the production line at Hormel. He retired after 31 years in April of 2004. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont. He was also a member of DAV Fremont Chapter 18 and life member of Eikmeier Faltin V.F.W. Post #8597 of Dodge, NE. He collected and refurbished Oliver Tractors and enjoyed farming and auctions. Survivors include his sister, Correne Brand of Fremont, NE and nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary K. Young. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont. Father David Belt will officiate. Visitation will be 3-8 P.M. Monday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont with the family receiving friends from 4-6 P.M. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at church on Tuesday. Military honors will be conducted by members of the Eikmeier Faltin V.F.W. Post #8597 of Dodge, NE following the service at church. Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick's Catholic Church or the Dodge County Humane Society. Moser Memorial Chapel, Fremont, NE is in charge of arrangements. 402-721-4490
