Bio

Helen was born to William and Yvonne (Bourgeault) Hunter in Los Angeles. She went to school in the Glendale, Calif., area, graduating from Glendale High School in 1948. Helen married Robert Silbaugh in 1950, and the couple had a daughter, Cheri, in 1952. They later divorced. Helen married Warren Slemp in 1961, and they had a daughter, Janet, and son, Bill. Warren passed away in 1978. While living in Glendale, Helen worked as a bookkeeper for retail stores. In 1970, she and Warren moved to Lapwai, where she was a bookkeeper for the Nez Perce Tribe for several years. After Warren's death, Helen moved to Lewiston and went to work for the Coca-Cola Bottling Company, retiring in 2001. Helen loved hunting and collecting beautiful, unusual rocks, large and small. Coins were also a huge fascination for her, and she had drawers full. Helen's major love was the NFL, specifically the Seahawks and Broncos. You did not disturb her on Sundays during football season. Survivors names omitted per findagrave policy. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Yvonne Hunter; sister Ruth Heimgartner; and son Bill Slemp. The family suggests that any memorial donations be made in her name to Samaritan's Purse. Lewiston Tribune September 15, 2015
