Bio
Gene was the son of the late Frank J. and Edna L. (Schultz) Beranek. Gene served in the US Coast Guard from 7-24-1947 to 7-16-1951. Gene was united in marriage to Lois Stecklein on April 1, 1951 and worked for the Union Pacific Railroad as a Machinist for over 38 years, retiring in 1988. He formerly lived in Missouri Valley and Honey Creek, Iowa, before moving to Council Bluffs. He is an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Missouri Valley and was a member of the Machinist Union. Gene is preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Lois in 2007. Survivors include his children and spouses, Ronny (JoAnn), Lonnie (Kim), Terry (Pam), Jerry (Terri); his five grandchildren & spouses, Chris & Danielle Beranek, Jane Wiglusz & Shawn Barnett, Ben & Heidi Beranek, Heather Majors & Josh, Lindsie Buchholz & Jeff; his seven great-grandchildren, Erin, Anthony, Brooklyn, Owen, Emily, Melody, Camille; his brothers, Zeke & Frank Beranek; his sisters, Emily Waube & Jennifer Simants; his nieces; and his nephews.
