Whitewright Funeral services for Opal Alexander, 84, of Whitewright were held Tuesday, January 27, 1998, at the First Baptist Church in Whitewright. The Rev. Rodney Stanford and the Rev. Hamp Linehan officiated. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery in Whitewright. Arrangements were under the direction of Earnheart Funeral Home. She died Sunday, January 25, 1998 at Wilson N. Jones Hospital in Sherman. Mrs. Alexander was born on March 4, 1913 in Blue Ridge, the daughter of James Wilson Press and Cora Cantrell. She was a graduate of East Texas State Teacher's College in Commerce. She married Lloyd Alexander in 1937 in Greenville, Texas. Mrs. Alexander taught public school for eight years prior to her marriage. She was employed as a secretary for Kimbell Milling Co. and Whitewright Grain and Elevator before retiring in 1984. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Whitewright. Surviving are her daughter, Dee Anna Alexander of Whitewright; and her sister, Edith Alexander of Whitewright.
