Bio
Frank J. Vavra,85 July 8, 1930 ~ September 8, 2015 Frank was born July 8, 1930 to Lloyd and Anna (Houska) Vavra. He was raised in Ord, Nebraska. He proudly served in the Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict, and later moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where he met and married his wife, Shirley. Shirley and Frank were married 58 years, and were blessed with one daughter and three sons, and 12 grandchildren. Frank defined his life with faith, hard work and dedication to his family. He was an avid golfer and often could be found on the back nine of local Omaha courses. Frank Vavra entered eternity September 8, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Edwin Vavra and Leonard Vavra, and brother-in-law, Pat Rhodes. Visitation begins 4:30 pm Thursday, September 10, 2015, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Omaha, Nebraska, followed at 6:30 pm by Wake Service. Mass of Christian Burial 10 am, Friday, at the church. Interment, Hillcrest Cemetery, with military honors by Benson VFW Post 2503. Memorials to St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church.
