Bio

Ruth Pick left this earthly life to join her Savior in her heavenly home on September 08, 2015. She leaves behind a host of family and friends who rejoice in the love and faith she shared throughout her 90 years of life. Services are scheduled for Thursday, September 10, 2015 at 10:30 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2 Ritchie Road, Woodway, with the Rev. Jim Menke officiating. Interment will follow immediately after the service at Waco Memorial Park. A visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, September 09, 2015 from 6-8 p.m.. Ruth was born in the town of Malone, Texas to Gus and Mary Conrad Falkenberg. She was baptized at Salem Lutheran Church in Malone. She was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clifton and graduated from Clifton High School. Her father nicknamed her “Could” because she could always accomplish whatever she set her mind to. And so it was that she learned to sew at an early age and made fashionable clothes from flour sacks. Her life brightened when she met a young soldier who had returned home from WWII. He was the brother-in-law of her oldest sister, but they had never met before. As rumors go, it was love at first sight. Within 6 months she married Ehrhard “Buddy” Martin Pick. They share a life of laughter and love for 48 years. Ruth and her family were active members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Waco where she was a charter member. She also taught Sunday School and helped with Vacation Bible School for many years. She was a member of the Lydia Circle, Braille, Fifty-Plus and Friday Night Out during her active years. She remained an independent lady even after suffering a stroke at the age of 85. Ruth loved spending time with her children and family, especially treasuring time with her grandsons. Ruth served as Trinity’s Kindergarten teacher for 30 years. She touched the hearts and minds of countless children and their families. She was delighted when grown students came up and gave her a big hug and talked fondly about the time they spent in her classroom. Buddy and Ruth shared a loved for dancing and scouting out garage sales and flea markets for hidden treasures. Ruth decorated their home reflective of her unique “country’ flair. Known to many as the "craft lady,” her booth at the Senior Citizen’s Apple Tree Bazaar drew many repeat customers for over 15 years. Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband and is survived by her sister, Mary Ann Roudabush of Bruceville-Eddy; daughters, Jan Johnson and husband Dave of Lubbock; Donna Wallingsford and grandsons Nathan and Jason all of Houston; and Renae Pick of Lakewood, Colorado. She leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and dear friends who mourn her passing. Waco Tribune-Herald: 9/9/2015...Y19
