Topeka Daily Capital May 16, 1953 Russell E. Furgason Russell E. Furgason, 74, retired Union Pacific employee and former Topekan, died Thursday in a hospital in Torrence, Calif. He was born July 4, 1878, at Eudora and was a Union Pacific switchman for 45 years, retiring in 1944. He lived in North Topeka until he moved to California four years ago. He was a member of the Baptist Church and Golden Rule Lodge No. 90, A. F. & A. M. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Goldie Furgason of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Mildred Mackie, Nauvoo, Ill.; Mrs. Dorothy Wray and Mrs. Esther Stovall, both of Topeka; a son, Ray Furgason, Shawnee, Okla.; a brother, Bert Furgason, Topeka; 12 grandchildren; and five stepchildren, William Zeferjahn, of Idaho; Floyd Zeferjahn, Mrs. Esther Parrish and Mrs. Emma Breen, all of Topeka; and Mrs. Delores Chartier, Long Beach, Calif.
