Death Claims F. E. Metzger -------------------------- Prominent in Masonic Circles and Knights Templar -------------------------- Frank E. Metzger, prominent in Masonic circles, died yesterday afternoon at his home, 339 South River street. He was the son of the late Charles B. Metzger, an old resident of Wilkes-Barre, who during the early seventies, kept a candy store on Public Square on the site which was the former site of Wilkes-Barre Deposit and Savings Bank. The elder Metzger was one of the first volunteer firemen in the city and served on the city council. He was a veteran of the Civil war and a past commander of Conyngham post, G. A. R. Frank Metzger's mother was Miss Annie Flack of Muncy. Mr. Metzger was born on June 25, 1869 in the old family homestead on North Washington street, now the site of Coughlin high school. He attended the public schools of the city and later entered the candy business in Plymouth, his business place being the present location of the Woolworth store. He was married to Emma Marple, daughter of E. W. Marple, formerly paymaster and auditor of Lehigh and Wilkes-Barre Coal Co. Mr. Metzger was past member of Plymouth Lodge, 332, F. & A. M., past high priest of Plymouth chapter, Royal Arch Masons, a member of Dieu le Veut commandery, No. 45, Knights of Templar, and a member of Irem Temple, where he had served as outer guard for the last twelve years. He was also a charter member of No. 1 Hose Co, of Plymouth. He is survived by his widow; one daughter, Mrs. F. L. Klipple, of Kingston; a granddaughter, Sally Ann Klipple; a brother, Carl B. Metzger, of Narberth and a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Eder, of Williamsport. The funeral will be held at the residence on Saturday afternoon at 3. Interment will be in Hollenback Cemetery.
