Bio

Helen Louise (Hrebec) Hulinsky, 97, of Grand Island, formerly of Burwell, passed away Monday, Aug. 31, 2015, at Hamilton Manor in Aurora. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Grand Island United Congregational Church, with the Rev. Lonnie Logan officiating. She will be laid to rest at the Grand Island City Cemetery following the service. Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Helen was born on May 21, 1918 in rural Valley County to Vaclav and Anna (Prerosta) Hrebec. She attended school in Valley County. She married Albert Hulinsky Jr. on March 26, 1940, in Valley County. To this union three children were born. They farmed and raised cattle for 47 years, near Burwell, until their retirement in 1987 when they moved to Grand Island. Helen was a member of Grand Island United Congregational Church. She enjoyed playing bingo, crafts of all kinds, gardening, cooking, music, dancing, fishing and sewing. Her main enjoyment in life was spending time with her loving family and relatives. Survivors include her sons, Ernie Hulinsky of Loup City, and Don Hulinsky of Aurora; a daughter and her husband, Irma Jean “I.J.” and Bob Walters of rural Guide Rock; a sister, Marie and husband Ike Farritor of Alliance; four grandchildren, Michelle, Jeff, Brian David and Sara; four great-grandchildren and several, and step-grandchildren and numerous other loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert in 2001; her parents; four sisters; and one brother.
