Dr. Ivo P. Greif, 93, of Normal, passed away at 10:15 p.m., Friday, August 28, 2015 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington, Illinois. Ivo was born October 1, 1921 in Worthington, Iowa, the son of Peter and Ida Lehmann Greif. He married Leona M. Svoboda on December 27, 1961 in Omaha, NE. She preceded him in death on March 22, 1998. He is survived by two daughters, Suzanne (Scott) Robertson of Normal and Jennifer (Philip) Bolton of Bloomington and a son, Mark (James Dillman) Greif Benson of St. Petersburg, FL; 2 grandchildren, Stephen Oross and Scott Robertson, both of Normal; 2 great grandchildren, Jozlynn and Jaelynn Robertson; two sisters, Ruth Rogers and Betty Jane (Larry) Guilford, both of Monticello, IA. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Rita Butzow and Freda Greif and two brothers, Lambert Greif and Ivo Michael Greif in infancy. Ivo was a WW II Veteran of the 8th Air Force, where he served as a flight engineer. He received a PhD in Elementary Education at Wayne State University. Ivo was a retired professor, who taught at Wayne State University, Creighton University, Joliet Junior College and Illinois State University. He was a member of the National Education Association, serving as past President and Chairman of the Board of their National Society of Professors. He was also past President of the Illinois Association of Higher Education, a member and past President of Phi Delta Kappa Fraternity, a member and State Delegate of the Illinois Education Association, member and National Delegate of the National Education Association, He was a member of Epiphany Catholic Church in Normal and the Bloomington Knights of Columbus, where he was a Fourth Degree Knight.
