Hastings resident, Mary Loretta (McMahon) Jisa, 90, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2015 at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska peacefully surrounded by her family on earth and in heaven. Rosary will be Thursday, August 27, 2015; 7:00 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, August 28, 2015; 10:30 A.M. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Burial will be Friday, August 28, 2015; 3:00 P.M. in Central City Cemetery, Central City. Memorials may be given to the family. Visitation will be Thursday, August 27, 2015; 1:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home and one hour prior to service at the church. Mary was born October 20, 1924 near Central City in Merrick County at home on the farm. She was born to Joseph and Vivienne (Farrell) McMahon. Mary attended 1st – 8th grades in Merrick County District #38. Then she graduated in 1943 from Central City High School. Mary attended nurses training at St. Francis School of Nursing in Grand Island. She then worked in a dental office in Grand Island and then in Denver, Colorado. After one year she returned to Central City to help her dad farm. This is when she met the love of her life. Mary married Leonard Jisa at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Central City on September 8, 1948 at the age of 23. Together they farmed for 16 years in the Polk, Clarks, and Central City areas. To this union seven children were born; Joseph, James, Cecilia, Susanna, Vivienne, Michael, and Timothy. In February 1964 Mary and Leonard moved to Hastings, Nebraska. Mary worked at the Hastings Regional Center for 19 years. She retired in October 1985. Mary was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church. She served as an Alter Society officer. Mary liked sewing and embroidering tee towels. She made a set for each child as a wedding gift. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leonard; sons, Joseph, James, and Michael; brother, Bernard McMahon; and sister and spouse, Agnes and Bob Bricault.
