Bio
Sam Geer, age 94, of Westminster, Texas passed away on November 24, 2023. Sam was born on July 26, 1929, in Westminster, Texas to the late Guy and Sallie Geer. He was the middle child of thirteen and was preceded in death by his brothers Donald, Tom, Jack, Wesley, Joe, Albert, and James, and his sisters Doris, Rachel, and Sarah. He was married for 59 years to the love of his life, Donna Bangs Geer, who also preceded him in death. Sam grew up in Westminster, Texas where he attended school until 1947 when he joined the Navy and served in Korea and Vietnam. After 22 years of active duty, he retired, moved to Arlington, and worked for General Magnaplate until 1992. He and Donna then moved to Westminster where they happily made their final home together. Sam enjoyed over 25 years as the Fire Chief of the Westminster Volunteer Fire Department, taking calls until the young age of 91. Sam lived his life to the fullest. He loved his family and would do anything for his friends and his community. He was a great storyteller with a wonderful sense of humor, and everyone who knew him enjoyed the stories he shared. Our family is grateful that Sam lived a long life independently and is now at peace with the love of his life. We will miss his kind, gentle and patient ways, and the impact he had on our lives.
