VETERAN INDIAN FIGHTER AND CONFEDERATE DEAD William McNeill, Age 81, Dies From Heart Trouble In the death of William McNeill at the age of 81 years, a Veteran fighter of Indians and a Confederate Soldier, has joined the great majority of his comrades in the eternal bivouac of the dead. For some time Mr. McNeill had suffered with heart trouble incident to his advanced age. The early years of his life were spent in Kentucky, but more than 50 years ago he went to Travis County, Texas, in which Austin, the capital of the state, is located, and engaged in farming. For a time he lived in San Saba, about 100 miles north of Travis County, and it was there that he saw service in the historic battles which the Texas Rangers waged against the Apache's, Comanches and other fierce Indian Tribes. He came from Texas to Tacoma 13 years ago, living a retired life most the time and having his home at 3604 East G. Street. Mr. McNeill was made a Mason in San Saba, Tex., 47 years ago, and on coming to this city had affiliated with the Tacoma Lodge No. 22, under who auspices the funeral will be held from Mellinger's tomorrow at 2 p.m. The body will be placed in the mausoleum. The pallbearers will be chosen form the Masons and Confederate Veterans. Besides his widow, he leaves four sons: C.F; S.A; and D.W. McNeill, all of Tacoma; and P.H. McNeill of Olympia; five daughters, Mrs. Julia Moore, Mrs. J.O. Hall; and Mrs. W.C. Heffington, all of Texas; Mrs. J.M. Hatch and Mrs. W.H. Harbaugh, of Tacoma. The News Tribune, Tacoma, Wash.
