Bio
Edna E. Mohlman, 96, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Sunday, August 23, 2015, at the Columbus Community Hospital. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 26 at 10:30 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church (12.5 miles North), rural Columbus with Rev. Brad Birtell officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5-7 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue on Wednesday from 9:30 AM until service time at the church. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 AM at the church. Memorials are those of family choice. Edna was born March 14, 1919, in Platte County, Nebraska, to Emil and Anna Rosalie (Wurdeman) Hake. She was baptized on April 13, 1919, and reaffirmed her Christian faith through confirmation on May 14, 1933, at Christ Lutheran Church, rural Columbus. Edna attended Christ Lutheran Grade School and as a young teen and adult, worked for area farm wives helping with the cleaning, cooking, taking care of the children, and miscellaneous farm chores. While a member of Christ Lutheran, Edna was a member of the Walther League. On May 31, 1949, Edna was united in marriage to Harold Mohlman at Christ Lutheran Church. The couple farmed in Platte County, raising cattle and row crops. Edna was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and served several years as Secretary/Treasurer of the PTO. She served several years on the Platte County Election Committee. Edna enjoyed gardening, canning, and traveling. Edna is survived by: Daughter – Nancy (Kent) Berkeland of Los Angeles, CA Son – Lyle (Libby) Mohlman of Platte Center, NE Daughter - Marla Mohlman of Omaha, NE Grandchildren – Nathan (Kayla) Berkeland of Platte Center, NE; Kenzie Mohlman of Omaha, NE; Elijah Mohlman of Platte Center, NE; and Jerica Mohlman of Platte Center, NE Great Grandchildren – Grace, Ellison, and Nathan Kash Berkeland of Platte Center, NE Edna was preceded in death by: Husband – Harold Mohlman Parents – Emil and Rosa Hake Brothers – Clarence and Helmuth Hake Sisters – Luetta Mohr and Elvera Stohr
