Mr. M.E. Clark arrived here Tuesday with the remains of his father, Mr. Henry G. Clark, and on Wednesday they were buried at the Oak Hill cemetery. He was at one time a resident of here, his wife being the former Josephine Otis, who died in 1872, and whom his remains were interred beside. Clark, H.G., farmer and manufacturer of staves, barrels and hoops; born in Missouri in 1832, he moved to Iowa and Clayton county in 1845; went to California in 1850, and returned to Clayton County in 1853 and settled in Fayette county in the spring of 1860. He was married to Miss Josephine A. Otis, (from Michigan) and they had four children, Ewing O., Benjamin C., Elmer B., and Irene. His wife died in Denver, Colorado in 1872 and he was married again in 1874 to Miss Ellen J. Williams from Clayton County, Iowa. They had one child, Roy H. Clark. He has 345 acres of land, located in Sec. 3, and it is valued at $8,000. He has held the office of School Director for six years.
