Beverly L. Zabloudil, 73, of Buena Vista died Aug. 3, 2015, in Pikes Peak Hospice at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs. She was born Feb. 3, 1942, in Ord, Neb., to Louis and Marie Vancura. She grew up in rural Nebraska. She married Ray Zabloudil June 10, 1962, in Ord. They moved to Buena Vista in June 1965 and have called it home ever since. From 1965 to 1977, Mrs. Zabloudil was primarily a homemaker while making numerous wedding and birthday cakes. She particularly enjoyed quilting, crocheting and needlework. In 1977, she took her love of sewing and crafts into the marketplace. She bought out a fabric store, and Bev’s Stitchery was born. When she wasn’t quilting, she would have a crochet hook, knitting needle or cross-stitch needle in her hand. She said that you should never have time to be bored. She also dedicated many hours over the years with the Buena Vista Sportsmen’s Club and the American Legion Auxiliary. During her “off” hours, she loved to watch cooking shows and was always hoping they would create a “high-altitude” cooking show. Mrs. Zabloudil was preceded in death by daughter Raylene Zabloudil. Survivors include her husband; son, Darren (Diana) Zabloudil of Tipton, Iowa; granddaughters, Heidi (Adam) Prockish of Rifle and Brianna Moeller of Tipton; and grandson, Drake Zabloudil of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Her funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Aug. 7, 2015, at Congregational United Church of Christ in Buena Vista with interment in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Buena Vista Pregnancy Center or Quilts of Valor in care of Bev’s Stitchery, Box 1773, Buena Vista, CO 81211. Arrangements are with Runyan Mortuary of Buena Vista.
