1909 23 July - Obituary- The La Grange Reporter, La Grange, GA "Miss Oliver Dead" "Miss C. M. Oliver, after an illness of some time, died at the home of her nephew, Mr. L. H. Walker, yesterday at noon. The deceased was about 81 years of age. The funeral services had not been arranged at the time of going to press. The interment will be at Oliver cemetery 1909 22 October - The La Grange Reporter, La Grange, GA In Memory of Miss Oliver "This old world has not been just the same to us since our friend, Miss Shalie Oliver, left us to dwell with her former friends and loved ones in that far away home where there is no pain, sorrow and disappointment. God is love and it is out of the abundance of His love that He assures us before He leads us into paths unbroken. the passage from this country to that of our reward, that all will be well with us. Such was the experience of Miss Shalie that she related several times. She loved her friends. The children of the homes where she lived before moving to La Grange expected especial attention from her wherever they met with her, and her place was never vacant at her church unless she was sick. She was accustomed to renumerate (remunerate) her pastor with her own little earnings. Her later years were spent mostly in nursing the sick in her home. We hope to meet her "Over There" where we can praise our Redeemer more perfectly." "A Friend"
