Daughter of Bill Cook and Colet Brooks Obit-Gonzales Inquirer Aug. 12, 1912 pg. 3 Mrs. Claudie Rutledge Died: At the home of her brother, Mrs. J. B. Archie, on Sunday morning, at 8 o’clock, Mrs. Claudie Rutledge, wife of Mr. Tom Rutledge, aged 24 years, 5 months, and 19 days. Mrs. Rutledge was in her usual health on a Friday and had spent a very busy day about household dities retiring late that night. When her mother called her early Saturday morning she could not be wakened she was found tp be in a serious condition suffering from a stroke of apoplexy. She lingered until Sunday morning when she had another stroke that caused her death. Her husband was out of town, at the bedside of his mother, but arrived yesterday afternoon in response to a telegram. Mrs. Rutledge leaves, besides her husband two little children a little daughter 4 years of age and an infant son two months old. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Cook and a native of Lavaca County. She also leaves a sister, Mrs. Chas. Evans of this city. She had resided in Gonzales about five years, and was a member of the Methodist Church. The funeral will be held this afternoon at 5 o’ clock. Rev. Gaston Hartsfield will conduct the services and interment will be made in the City cemetery. The Inquirer extends sincere sympathy to the bereaved family. Aug. 12. 1912 pg. 3 Remains of Mrs. Tom Rutledge Laid to Rest The remains of Mrs. Tom Rutledge who passed away Sunday morning in this city were laid to rest in the City cemetery Monday afternoon at 5 o'clock Rev. Gaston Hartfield, pastor of the Methodist church, conducted funeral services at the family residence in the presence of friends and relatives gathered to pay a last tribute to the dead. After the services were concluded the procession formed and moved to the cemetery where interment was made with a short closing service. Many lovely floral offerings lent their beatuty to adorn the last resting place of the young wife and mother who has been called away from the home on earth to the one on High.
