Robert Lindsey Dye, 75, of Pope, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003, at his home of heart failure. Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 17, at 2 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was at Forrest Memorial Park. Rev. Kevin Crofford officiated services. Wells Funeral Home had charge of arrangements. Dye, born Aug. 19, 1927, in Union County to the late George Spencer and the late Nannie Bedwell Dye, was a retired Chief of the U.S. Corp of Engineers Drege Boat "Potter" and a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and Korean Conflict. He was a member of Longcrest Baptist Church in Memphis, Tenn. Survivors include his wife, Minnie Merle Duke Dye of Pope; three daughters, Jean Dye Darby and Bonnie Dye Skelton both of Pope, and June Dye of Memphis, Tenn.; two sons, Jimmy Dye and Larry Dye also of Pope; one sister Rudell Dye Bedwell of Pensacola. Fla.; two brothers, Dewitt Dye and Edward Dye both of Atlanta, Ga.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
