The Whitewright Sun, Whitewright, Texas, Thursday, November 11, 1976, Page 6 Obie Stewman Services Held Services were held Nov. 5, 1976 for Obie Stewman of Whitewright, former Bonham businessman, who died in a Baylor hospital at Dallas Nov. 3, 1976. The Rev. Fred Thomas officiated at the services in Earnheart chapel. Burial was in Burns cemetery in Trenton. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. Stewman. He married Lucille Brookins at Bonham Jan. 14, 1936. Survivors are his wife, of the home; one daughter Mrs. Richard W. Carter of Garland; three brothers, Tom and Robert Stewman Jr. both of Trenton and Earl Stewman of McKinney; one sister, Mrs. Gladys Clinton of Celeste and two grandchildren, Melanie and Jack Hopper. Mr. and Mrs. Stewman operated Stewman's Specialty Shops at Sher-Den Mall and also downtown Sherman. Their first store was at Trenton and they later opened a store in Bonham and opened their store at Sherman in 1970. He served as postmaster at Trenton from 1970 until 1972. He began his career with the postal service in 1957 as a clerk in the Trenton office. He retired in early 1976. He also had farming and ranching interest. He was a member of the Baptist church. Active pallbearers were Roy Brookins, James Brookins, Pat Brookins, Bobby Stewman, Roger Brookins and Tom Mac Holmes.
