Bio

Wiley Seward Moore was born on February 20, 1935, in Temple, Texas, and he died on October 23, 2004, at Hendricks Medical Center in Abilene. He was a long-time ranch manager as well as a windmill and pump repairman. He was one of the remaining charter members of the Nolan County Sheriff's Posse, and he was a long-time resident of Nolan County, Texas. The loves of Wiley's life included children and playing Santa Claus for them; horses, trail rides, parades, and helping his fellow citizens He was very active with the Sweetwater Fair and Livestock Association, helping with the AJRA Rodeo and Livestock Shows since their inception. He was a member of the Nolan Volunteer Fire Department and served on the Divide Rural High School Board during the last years before they consolidated with Blackwell. He was preceded in death by his father, Wiley F. Moore; mother, Vera E. Moore; sister, Lula Fern Knauth; and brother, Donald E. Moore. He is survived by his daughter, Pat Michael and husband, Donald of Scroggins; son, Michael C. Moore of Nolan; granddaughter, Mindy Morris and husband, Joey of Scroggins; grandson, Michael S. Moore of Pampa; great-granddaughter, Kiley Lynn Huie of Scroggins; brother, Jesse Ray Moore and wife, K of Milton, Florida; adopted daughter, Sherline Davis and family of Trent; and special friend, Ann Pfeiff and her family of Sweetwater; and sister-in-law, Estha L. Moore and family of San Angelo. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 27, 2004, at 2 p.m. at Nolan Community Center in Nolan. A family visitation will be held Tuesday, October 26, 2004, from 6 until 8 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home of Sweetwater. Reverends Vic Meyer, Marcy Grun, and Billy Simpson will officiate. Pallbearers will include Richard Crain, Kenneth Crain, Bill Palmer, Jim Palmer, Louis Brooks, Jr., and Art Mayberry. Honorary Pallbearers will include Roy Jennings, Bobby Palmer, Rick Walton, A.J. Scott, Levon Jeter, Howard Rodgers, Carey Redden, Mike Brenz, John Temple, Mack Elston, and Tommy Tutt.
