Bio

"On Saturday, March 4, Mrs. Mary Ellen Cottle, wife of J. O. Cottle, died at her home on Broadway street, of pneumonia fever. Mrs. Cottle was born in Cooper county, Missouri, Feb 23, 1840. She was married to J. O. Cottle in Collin county, Texas, Oct 13, 1869. They moved to Indian Territory several years ago and have been happy and prosperous, with few or no reverses and but few heartaches, and these two old people and their children have constituted one of the most popular and most useful families in our city. Two sons and two daughters survive her, O. J. and L. W. Cottle and Mrs. Emma Ailey, of Roff, and Mrs. Beulah Francisco, of Tarrant county, Texas. Mrs. Cottle's aged sister, Mrs. W. F. Shaw, of Ada, attended her bedside. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church, conducted by Rev. R. H. J. Hacker, Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, after which the remains were laid to rest in Roff [OK] cemetery. The Eagle joins the many friends of the family in extending heartfelt sympathy to the heartbroked [sic] husband and relations." Mary Ellen Jamison had been married, earlier, to Philip R. Teeter. Mary Ellen and Philip did not have children.
