Bio

Barbara Ann Shankle was born March 19, 1950 in McKinney, Texas to Betty (Felty) and R.L. Myers. The family moved to Wasco when Barbara was 3 years old and she attended Wasco Elementary Schools and graduated from Wasco Union High School with the Class of 1968. She went on to earn her Associates Degree from Bakersfield College. Barbara worked as an administrative assistant for 42 years, retiring as the executive administrative assistant to the COO of Sun World International. Barbara married Michael Shankle August 7, 1995 in Bakersfield and they continued live in Wasco. Barbara enjoyed going to the beach, especially Morro Bay; shopping with her granddaughters and baking Christmas goodies for the whole neighborhood. She organized parties and events at work and took great pride in doing a good job. These skills and her desire for perfection made her a natural leader and she loved being the boss. Barbara was preceded in death by her father, RL Myers and sister, Donna Hughes. She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Michael Shankle; mother, Betty Myers; son, Richard Skaggs; granddaughters, Ashley and Kaitlyn Skaggs; brother, Ronnie Myers; sisters, Kathy Brendle and husband Jeff and Cindy Perryman; brothers-in-law, Boyd (Debbie) Shankle and David (Teresa) Shankle; and sisters-in-law, Peggy Thompson and Patty Osmon. A graveside service will be held Friday, July 31 at 9am at Wasco Memorial Park for Barbara Ann Shankle, age 65, of Wasco who passed away July 27, 2015 in Bakersfield. A visitation will be held Thursday, July 30 from 5pm to 8pm at Peters Funeral Home, Wasco. Information provided by Peters Funeral Home
