Fremont Tribune (NE) - Monday, November 26, 2001 HOWELLS -- William E. "Bill" Cakl, 94, of Howells died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, at Parkview Nursing Home in Dodge. He was born July 7, 1907, in rural Howells. He attended Colfax County rural District 32 (Grovehill School). He married Vlasta Dostal Sept. 1, 1931, in rural Howells. He moved to Howells in 1975 when he retired from farming. He was the former treasurer of Catholic Workmen Branch 14 for many years. He was a former school board member of Colfax County rural District 50. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Howells Knights of Columbus and Catholic Workmen Branch 14. Survivors include: his wife; a son, Duane (and wife, Mary Ann) Cakl of Lincoln; a daughter, Eileen Childerston of Lincoln; four grandchildren and two great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by a son, a brother, two sisters, an infant sister and a son-in-law. The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Catholic Church in Howells. The Rev. Paul Ortmeier will officiate. Visitation will be 2:30-8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to service time Thursday, all at the church. A rosary will be said at 3 and 7:30 p.m., both at the church. Burial will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Howells. Svoboda Funeral Home in Schuyler is in charge of arrangements.
