Elizabeth Rose Cummings, age 84, passed peacefully on May 10, 2015, in Lubbock, Texas, and went to be with her Heavenly Father and Savior forever. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at Hammons Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at First Baptist Church in Littlefield, Texas, with Dr. Brian Hill officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Amherst. Arrangements by Hammons Funeral Home in Littlefield. Elizabeth was born in Amherst, Texas, to Ed and Helen Schovajsa. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Home Economics from Texas Tech University and a Master degree in Counseling from the University of Southern Mississippi. In May of 1953, she married Jack Cummings in Amherst and remained his sweetheart for 60 years. Together they raised three children: Cheryl, Linda and Frank. Elizabeth had multiple careers in her lifetime including teaching Home Economics and counseling high school students; managing operations of an RC Bottling Distribution company; and building successful sales careers in retail and real estate. Elizabeth loved her Savior, Jesus Christ and read her Bible daily. She taught many Sunday school classes and Bible studies through the years. Elizabeth's family enjoyed her outstanding cooking. She enjoyed many artistic hobbies and became an accomplished seamstress and milliner. Preceding her in death are her husband, Jack E. Cummings; her son, Frank Cummings; and her sister, Edwina Patterson. Elizabeth is survived by daughters, Cheryl Hymes and Linda Kobe and husband, John; grandchildren, Jennifer Percival and husband, John, Rachel Greely and husband, Joseph, Matthew Kobe and wife, Rachael; and great-grandchildren, Annabelle, Jackson and Charlotte Percival. She is also survived by her sister, Joanne Hayworth and husband, Bobby; brothers, Gary Schovajsa and wife, Donna and Larry Schovajsa and wife, Sharon; and a beloved, extended family of nephews, nieces and cousins. Elizabeth's loving smile and generosity will be greatly missed. She made a difference.
