Fremont Tribune (NE) - Saturday, October 27, 2001 The mass of Christian burial for Walter L. "Walt" Bahm, 80, of Davey, is 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Davey. He died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001, at Lancaster Manor in Lincoln. He was born Jan. 3, 1921, in Wahoo. As a child, he lived in Malmo. He attended elementary school in Weston and graduated from Weston High School in 1939. He served with the U.S. Navy from Nov. 12, 1942 to Sept. 28, 1945, seeing action during World War II in the South Pacific Theater. On Feb. 3, 1942, he married Adeline D. Sabatka in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She preceded him in death on Aug. 28, 1988. After leaving the Navy, the couple moved to Lincoln. In 1973, they moved to Davey. He was a printer/lithographer. He owned Capitol Printing in Omaha during the 1960s and later worked for Nebraska Farmer Magazine, Nebraska Litho, Mid-America Web Press, Boomer's and retired from Arbor Printing in 1986. He also played the drums professionally with several area bands, including Golden Prague (Adolph Simanek Band), the Dick Wickman Orchestra, the Adolph Nemec Band, the Czechlanders, the Lou Arnold Band and the Moostash Joe Band. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Davey and a member of American Legion Post 308 in Weston. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother. Survivors include: a son, Scott (and wife, Karla) Bahm of Lincoln; a daughter, Judy Bahm of Davey; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Darlene (Mrs. Rudy) Meduna of Cedar Bluffs and two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Bahm of Lincoln and Lorraine (Mrs. Robert) Rockwell of Omaha. The Rev. Kenneth Hoesing will officiate Monday's service. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Park in Lincoln, with military rites conducted by American Legion Post 308 in Weston. Following the burial, a luncheon will be served at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Lincoln. A vigil service will be 7 p.m. Sunday at Svoboda Funeral Home in Wahoo. Visitation is 4-6 p.m. Saturday and 4-8 p.m. Sunday, all at the funeral home, and one hour before mass at the church. A memorial has been established to the Lincoln-Greater Nebraska Chapter of the National Alzheimer's Association.
