David Yeates Hughes 83, of Roaring Springs, Texas went to be with the Lord Friday July 17, 2015. He was born July 17, 1932 to Homer Horace Hughes & Lois Eudelle “Yeates” Hughes in Dickens County. David was a member of the Patton Springs School board, Masonic Lodge, Dickens Lions Club and a lifelong member of the Baptist church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and most of all loved to aggravate his grandbabies. David is survived by his children, Steve Hughes & wife Terri of Gardendale, TX, James Hughes & wife Kathy of Afton, TX, John Hughes & wife Tammie of Whiteface, TX, and Carolee Hardin & husband Kody of Sweetwater, TX; Sisters, Carol Ann Goff of Lubbock, TX, Cherrie Bland of Amarillo, TX, and Deborah Pate of Norman, OK; Brothers Horace Tom Hughes of Lubbock, TX, Mickey Hughes of Lubbock, TX, and Dicky Hughes of Austin, TX; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Graveside Services were held 2:00 p.m. Sunday July 19, 2015 at the Afton Cemetery in Afton TX with Ben Kautz officiating under the direction of Zapata Funeral Home.
