FULLERTON — Phyllis A. Furby, 72, of Fullerton died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2002, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Alma. The Rev. Lyn Seiser will officiate. Private burial will be at 4 p.m. in Fullerton Cemetery. Mrs. Fury was born Nov. 13, 1929, at Fullerton to Ray C. and Caroline (Burns) VanLeer. She grew up in Fullerton, where she attended grade school and high school. She married Marvin L. Furby Feb. 16, 1948, in Raton, N.M. The couple lived in Grand Island, Lincoln and Fullerton before moving to Holdrege in 1963. They moved to Chappell in 1964 and then to Oxford in 1966. In 1971, they moved to Alma. She was employed by Beckin Dickenson in Holdrege until she retired. Her husband died May 17, 1992. She was baptized May 6, 1956, at First Methodist Church in Fullerton. She attended the United Methodist Church in Alma and planned to transfer her membership from the Fullerton church to the Alma church. She belonged to AARP and the American Legion Auxiliary to Post 118 in Alma. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, James and Kathleen Wolters of Agency, Mo.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Dennis Hunt of Beaver City and Dea and Douglas Wilson of Broken Bow; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and J.B. VanLeer of Belgrade; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, a great-grandchild, and a step-grandchild.
