KEARNEY — Erva M. P. Adams, 80, of Kearney, formerly of Broken Bow, died Monday, Aug. 26, 2002, at St. John's Samaritan Center in Kearney. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow. The Rev. Bob Winn will officiate. Burial will be in Douglas Grove Cemetery in Comstock. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Foundation. Mrs. Adams was born Jan. 13, 1922, at Broken Bow to Emir E. and Grace P. (Henman) Brakeman. She attended Broken Bow public schools. She married George D. Shepperd on June 30, 1945. The couple lived on a farm southeast of Comstock in Valley County. Her husband died March 16, 1959. She moved to Broken Bow. She later married Richard "Dick" Adams on Oct. 18, 1964. The couple moved to Merna for 30 years. She then moved to Broken Bow on Mother's Day in 1993. Her husband died July 20, 1997. She worked at the Red Feather Cafe, City Cafe, Rest Haven (now Sandhills Manor), Dog 'n Suds and housekeeping at Jennie Melham Medical Center, all in Broken Bow. She also worked for Green Thumb at the Merna High School. She enjoyed her house plants, her cat, sewing quilts, collecting old money, bottle hunting, collecting salt and pepper shakers and Avon bottles. She also enjoyed listening to Bohemian and polka music, and spending time with her friends and family. She belonged to the HOA Club in Comstock and was a member of the Sew and So Club in Merna. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara Garrett of Broken Bow, Martha and Terry Golden of Broken Bow and Margaret and Jarmin Shepperd of Broken Bow; a son, Darrell Shepperd of Anderson, Ind.; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her two husbands; three brothers, Elmer, Emil and Ernest; and two sisters, Elvina and Eval. Contributor: Terry Wilmoth -Jepsen (47545613)
