Joe Havel, 81, of 554 N. Loma Drive, died Saturday evening in a local hospital following a short illness A native of Milligan, Neb., he attended local schools there. He worked on the Southern Pacific Railroad for 15 years in Fairbury. He married Oralee L. Cook on Sept 4, 1935, in Fairbury. They lived there until 1940 when they moved to Lodi. Havel worked for Happyholme Farms and then for the American Fruit Co. for 15 years. He also worked for a fertilizer company in Stockton for some years. His wife died in 1958. He was a member of Teamsters Union Local NO. 439 in Stockton. He is survived by a son Gary Havel of Lodi; two daughters, Mrs. Norma Setu, and Mrs. June Brinton, both of Lodi; a brother, Emil Havel of Milligan; 10 grandchilcre and five great grandchildren. Services Wednesday from the chapel of the Lodi Funeral Home, thence to St. Anne's Catholic Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment in Cherokee Memorial Park.
