F2 US NAVY WORLD WAR II J.C. Vaught, 84, died Friday, April 19, 2013 in a local hospital. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 22nd at Starbuck Funeral Home Chapel. Jimmie Carl was born October 21, 1928 in Pettus, Texas to Earl and Izetta May (Soper) Vaught. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. J.C. lived in Abilene in the 1960's and moved to Merkel in the late 1970's. He started his career in the oilfield working in west Texas then at Beasley Well Service in Hawley. In the early 1980's J.C. worked for Hill Production then for Wayne Irvin, Bob Palmer, Roger Beaird, and Billy Bob and Freddy Toombs at M-Tex Resources. He was knowledgeable about his job and a dedicated employee. Survivors include two daughters, Pamela Posey and husband Carlos of Mena, Arkansas, Debbie Fenner and husband Jim of Cotulla; two sisters, Ima Jean Wostal of Killeen and Evelyn Nesolony of Orange Grove; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jack and Wilburn Vaught; son, David Vaught; and daughter, Gail Loretta Morgan.
