The Paris News, Mon. July 22, 1968, Pg. 2 Ex-Paris Tax Official Dies O. C. Tankursley, 71, retired city tax assessor-collector, who had been in ill health, died suddenly at home, 652 W. Sherman St., Sunday about 10 p.m. The funeral, Tuesday at 2 p.m., will be held at Fry & Gibbs chapel by the Rev. John McGee, pastor of First Methodist Church where Mr. Tankursley was a member of the official board and of the Builders Class. Interment is arranged in Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Tankursley leaves his wife, the former Miss Mary Pearson of Paris whom he married in Dallas, July 14, 1923; two daughters, Mrs. W. G. Shadle, Denton, and Mrs. James H. Allen, Stephenville; also eight grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Walt Stubblefield, Dallas, and two brothers, D. H. and E. R. Tankursley, both of DeSoto. Son of John Carter and Mary Elmina Youngblood Tankursley, O. C. Tankursley was born at Bristol, Ellis County, Sept. 10, 1896, and attended school at Coleman. He formerly was assistant cashier of the Grand Avenue State Bank in Dallas, and for 29 years was associated with the Perkins Brothers' former interests here, both the company's dry goods store and the Gibraltar Hotel, in credit and management positions. He was named city tax officer in 1951, retiring Jan. 1, 1965. He was a member of Paris Masonic Lodge No. 27, AF&AM, and Knight Templar Commandery No. 9.
