She as born to Robert and Geraldine (Brown) Mang, her father died in 1953 and she moved to Presho SD, where she graduated from High School in 1960. She attended Northern State University in Aberdeen, In 1962, she moved to Washington, D.C. where she worked in the Pentagon at Headquarters, USAF. She married Joseph C. Karas, Jr. in 196 and they ived in Sterling, Virginia. They were parents of two children, In 1981, they moved to Rapid City, SD. Alice worked as the church secretary at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Her civil service time was spent at Ellsworth AFB for the US Army Corps of Engineers and the Department of the Air Force in the Civil Engineering Squadron. She married again in 1997, after 2000, in retirement she and her husband were snow birds. Her motto was "We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” from Winston Churchill. Alice once did the Twist on stage with 60’s teen idol Fabian. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert A. Mang and Geraldine E. Gallant; an infant brother, Duane Mang; and step-brother and wife, Bob and Rita Gallant.
