F. S. Buchanan, Boone county pioneer, departed this life at his home in Albion, Thursday, Sept. 28, 1939, at the age of 63 years, four months and ten days. Forrest Sylvanius Buchanan was born May 18, 1876, at Viroqua, Wisconsin, and came to Nebraska with his parents when a small boy. He lived with his parents on a farm south of Albion until a young man. On February 14, 1900, he was united in marriage to Eva Chapman, and they made their home near or in Albion. Eight children were born to this union. Mr. Buchanan was a member of the Church of God of Albion at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife; the eight children, Howard of Albion, Elmer of Emporia, Kansas; Norman of South Haven, Michigan; Gene of Stockton, California; Mrs. Erma Ashburn of Lamonia, Iowa; Mrs. Ruth Turner of Reno, Nevada; George and Leonard of Albion; eleven grandchildren; one brother, Vinton, of Genoa and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the Smith Funeral Home Sunday afternoon at two o'clock in charge of Rev. and Mrs. Chas. Boyd of the Church of God. Interment was made in Rose Hill cemetery. Out of town relatives who attended the funeral services were Norman Buchanan of South Haven, Michigan; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Buchanan, Mildred and Junior, of Emporia, Kansas; Mr. and Mrs. Lester Farris and children of Fullerton; Mr. and Mrs. Vinton Buchanan, Mildred, Helen, and Harold of Genoa; Mrs. Fred Larson and Guy Clipston of Loup City; Mrs. Mae Bivian of Clarks; Mrs. Viola Hutchinson, Mrs. Myrtle Whitted, Miss Elinor Harris and Will Harris of Silver Creek.
