Census: 1850 Age 11 living with Pendleton and Martha in Grainger County, Tn
(Father: Pendleton TAYLOR b: BET 1804 AND 1805 in North Carolina Mother: First Wife UNKNOWN). Henry died from General Dropsy according to his death certificate lists his father as Pendleton Taylor and mother as Catherine McDaniel from Virginia. NOTES FROM WILLIE TAYLOR TAKEN JULY 198 8 (GRANDSON OF HENRY): Grandpa Henry W. Taylor would always sing a few verses of "There isa Fountain Filled With Blood" before preaching. Grandpa started t he church at Malaga, also. One time Grandpa was getting ready to preach and a drunk came and stood in the church door. Grandpa said "Either come in or go out, your about the ugliest thing I've ever seen". If people would talk to ea ch other, Grandpa would stop and ask "Are you finished?" Saturday afternoon m eetings were like business meetings. People would bring before the congregati on if they had any accusations against other members and they would sort of ha ve a trial. If people would confess to their sins they were forgiven, if not, they were dismissed from the service. Grandpa Henry's father came to Kentuck y and remarried. This is how the Dalton's are related to Taylor's. Uncle Hen Dalton - John Dalton's father was possibly Grandpa's half-brother, if not, th ey were close kin. Grandpa's brother Bob lived on Big Branch, Wolfe County. S ome ofhis offspring were Clint and Pink who lived in Lee County. Grandpa Henr y Taylor was known to be well versed in the Bible. One day another preacher c ame through that was also known to be well versed. He got up and wanted to kn ow how many had read the 23rd Chapter of Revelation. Grandpa raised his hand a nd the other preacher thought he had Grandpa in a mistake as there is no Revel ation 23. Grandpa said "That's where you get your funeral preaching." One tim e Grandpa and a Church of God preacher agreed to quote scripture about what th e church ought to be called. Finally, the Church of God preacher said he woul d just go with Grandpa, as he had convinced him. One day when Grandpa was sti ll living in Tennessee, a red bird lighted on his shoulder and flapped it's wi ngs as he was standing in a doorway. Grandpa took this as a warning sign from the Lord to leave Tennessee. Shortly after this he brought his family to Kentu cky. Not sure if others in his family came at the same time but, they all eve ntually came. COMPANY M. 9TH TENNESSEE CAVALRY(USA) - CIVIL WAR.
