Bio

Lou was the daughter of Isabella (Henderson) and Thomas Benton Magness. She married on 21 May 1921 in Calcasieu Par., La. to Ruford Hayes Smith. They had 2 sons - Ruford Hayes Smith, Jr. and Tom Magness Smith. Lou was active as a member of First Baptist Church of Lafayette and for many years was a Sunday School teacher there. She was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 46 and was a past worthy matron, a member of the Gavel Club, member of the Federated Women's Club and the Lafayette Garden Club. She was a judge for many flower shows throughout the state. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, being referred to as "Mother Lou" by her 7 grandchildren.
