father - Roswell Harvey Marchman Sr., b. 10/12/1822 GA, d. 2/16/1892 GA mother - Elizabeth S Holtzclaw, b. 1830 GA, 8/15/1880 GA ∼ Cicero Newton Marchman was born in either Troup or Meriweather County, Georgia, as the line dividing the two counties ran through the house in which he was born. He came to Texas in June 1886 locating in Cisco. When his family arrived, he and his wife were with their seven children. They came to Texas during the drought, and waiting on their first crop they had a diet of milk and bread, which was about all most of the people had to eat. With the exception of a few years in Stephens County, Mr. Marchman lived in and near Cisco since 1886. In Cisco, three of the 11 children were born, and one was born in Stephens County. Mr. Marchman was a farmer all of his life. He acquired small tracts of farm land, but when his sons grew up and married, he disposed of all the land except a 80-acre farm, which he owns six miles south of Cisco. Mr. Marchman enlisted in the Confederate army in 1863, in Cobb County, Georgia under General Phillips' command and was soon detailed as a guard at Andersonville prison, in South Carolina. Mr. Marchman remained with the Army from his enlistment until his discharge after General Lee surrendered. The Old Timer magazine February 3, 1935
