Copied with permission from the Shawnee News-Star: June 25, 2006: Longtime Meeker resident Alma Marie Roberts, 73, died Thursday, June 22, at a local nursing home. She was born Nov. 9, 1932, in Durant to Earl Joseph Leonard and Elizabeth Belle (Hankins) Leonard. She married Bennie Roberts on Nov. 26, 1958, in Prague. She was a nurse's aide for many years at Colonial Estates and had lived in the Meeker area since 1959. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Susan Dexter; a grandson, Joseph Frederickson; a brother, E.J. Leonard; sister-in-law, Willa Mae Ash, and brother-in-law, Garvin Roberts. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Tina G. and Glenn Hall of Meeker; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Amy Roberts, and Marvin Roberts, all of Harrah; six grandchildren, Lucas Cheatwood, Dawn Summers, Glenn Hall, Allison Younger, Ramona Roberts and Janee Roberts; seven great-grandchildren, Allen, Cheyenne, Korbynn, Konnyr, Cole, Gabby and Charles; a son-in-law, Garry Dexter of Moore; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Lena Neely of Shawnee, Mildred Neely of Shawnee, Delora and Maness Barentine of Oklahoma City; a brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Susie Leonard of Paden; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Glenn and Joyce Roberts, Annie and Jimmy Lindsey, all of Meeker; Clarence Roberts; and many other family members and friends. Graveside service will be at Garden Grove Cemetery, northeast of Shawnee, at 10 a.m. Tuesday with Doyle Loveland officiating. Memorials can be made to Heartland Hospice, 3700 N. Kickapoo, in Shawnee.
