Bio

ESTEL EUGENE CRAFT was born on July 12, 1939 to Fred Izeah and Ruth Princess Hailey Craft in Bremond, Texas. He passed away on June 9, 2015 following a long battle with lung cancer. He is survived by his wife of 60 years; the love of his life, Barbara Ann Brock Craft; sons, Estel (Bubba) Craft Jr., Arnold Craft and wife Mary; daughters Kim Pavlovsky and her husband Jonathan; and daughter, Sonja McClellan and husband Matthew. His grandchildren were the joy of his life: Alicia Craft, Joshua McClellan, Arnie Craft Jr, Kourtney Neubauer (Brian), Estel Craft III, Jeremy McClellan, Amy Craft, and Faith Ann McClellan. Estel is preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Craft and sister-in-laws, Yvonne Craft and Betty Caudle. He is survived by his sister, Geneva Carter (Don); brother, Fred Craft; sister-in-law, Nancie Craft; and dog, Clyde. Established in 1974, founder of Craft’s Car Center, Estel’s dream carries on through his son, Arnold Craft. He never met a stranger and loved to tell jokes; for example, one of his favorites: “What’s round as a biscuit, busy as a bee, prettiest little thing you ever did see?” (a watch) Estel was a member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church and helped chaperone youth trips and loved to help provide safe transportation for the church buses. After raising their children, Estel and Barbara decided to move to Bayou Vista to live out their golden years. Estel and Barbara loved their fishing trips. He was always busy with various projects and took many road trips-especially driving Ms. Barbara to casinos! Estel was very proud of being a Master Mason, in good standing with Park Place No. 1172. A “Celebration of Life” service honoring Estel will be held on Friday, June 12, 2015 at 12:30 PM in teh Chapel of SouthPark Funeral Home, 1310 N. Main Street, Pearland, Texas 77581, with Rev. Sara Owen-Gemoets and Rev. Matthew McClellan officiating.
