Bio

In 1940 she and her parents and sister lived on a farm they owned on R.R.#1 in Rupert Precinct, Minidoka County, ID. Their home was valued at $150. Her father also worked as a farm hand on a neighbor's farm, with an income in 1939 of $516 for 36 weeks of work. In 1950 she, her mother, her sister, her mother's brother Harold, and two lodgers lived in a house at 979 East Main Street in Hermiston, OR. Her mother worked as a house cleaner and her uncle as a forklift operator at the Army Ordnance Depot. ----------------------- From Burns Mortuary, Hermiston, OR: Pearl Lorraine Lemmon Our beloved Mother passed away June 1, 2015 in her home in Hermiston, Oregon, she was 83. Pearl was the first child born to Fred and Elsie Miller in Burley, Idaho in 1931. The family journeyed to Hermiston in the early 1950's. In her High School years she worked at Mode O Day Dress Shop on Main Street in Hermiston and was honored to be a Princess on the Umatilla County Fair Court. She enjoyed being a member of the Sage Riders Horse Club. She is a Graduate of Hermiston High School; while attending she met the love of her life, lifetime partner Marvin Lemmon; they were soon married. They raised 5 children and she worked side by side opening Marv's Texaco and later established the family business Hermiston Tire & Auto. During these years Pearl was very active with Altrusa Club and a member of the Elks Club. She enjoyed chaperoning Miss Umatilla County to the Oregon Coast for the Miss Oregon pageant. Many summers Pearl drove harvest potato truck for Bud Rich. She loved running her cattle herd and we teased her and called her the "Cattle Whisperer". Pearl was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and true friend. She enjoyed tending to her garden and spent many more hours canning. Family gatherings and events were the highlights of her life. Her most treasured time was spent with family and she was extremely proud of her grandchildren. Faithfully staying in contact with them she was known as "Gram". She will be treasured always for her laughter, stories, sweet words of wisdom and encouragement. Pearl was an inspiration to anyone who was blessed to know her. Pearl is survived by her sister Jessica Vance; children: Robert Lemmon, Randy Lemmon, Teresa Brower, Tami Sparks and Sheryle Crowell all of Hermiston; 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Lemmon & granddaughter, Lacee Lemmon. Her Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 27th at 10:00 A.M. at the Assembly of God Church, 730 East Hurlburt, Hermiston, Oregon. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Campus Life of Hermiston in her memory.
