Born in Illinois, came to Texas 1853, joined Confederate army in 1863, via McCord's Frontier Regiment Texas Cavalry; record says age 25; married Amanda N Roberts, according to son Wm A Freeman's death certificate; first child born 1865; lived in Wise County 1867 per voter registration and 1870 census with Amanda and children; last child born in 1872; wife remarried 1874. Presumed to have died abt 1873
